Emilweeeeeeee

We had so much fun hanging out with my cousin Emily Main a couple of weekends ago. National Geographic, which Emily works for, put on what's called a Bio Blitz. As I insensitively remarked to her, however, the name was chosen more for alliteration than truth. There was very little Blitz in the Bio Science Project with booths (a more appropriate name). Mostly it was for scientists, students, teachers to study the local wildlife during a 24 hour period, culminating in a small 'festival' (the info booths). Blitz may have been the wrong word, BUT, we still had lots of fun playing on a dirt mound and buying silk worms, that are now moths pooping all over Ben's bug cage. They've laid eggs too! And Steve and i have no idea what to do with them. Will we be massacring a whole family of moths if we set them free just anywhere? Do we feed them our clothes? Should we look it up? Oh, and Ben got to pet a fox! That is, until we told him, "no Ben, Emily's red hair is not for petting." But he did pet a real porcupine.

Mostly, it was just really great seeing my funny cousin Emily.

Water Bags

Now we know what Ben will look like when his eyesight becomes as bad as mine.

Facing the Music

Zoe holds a drum top to her face and makes music the only way a creative soul can... her own way.

Shinanigans

Look out Copperfield, Houdini, Blane... heeeeeeeeeeeere comes Zoe. The next magical phenom. Able to disappear completely, no gimmicks, no tricks, just completely gone. One minute she's there...

Ben eats his snack as he watches the performance. All magical divas have their moments when their 'people' are just not giving them what she wants. Zoe freaks out after her performance when we just can't figure out what she wants under the dresser, because there is simply nothing there. Perhaps she made it disappear and she's the only one that can see it. Unfortunately her arms are too short to reach the invisible object so she gets very angry. If she had a vase to throw or a coffee table to smash I'm sure she would have.
